
We offer classes in the ancient arts of Pilates, Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga, which take place in the serene surroundings of our gallery and are taught by instructors who are recognised on a national level.
The Ashtanga method of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures - a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is an improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
Our programme is designed for beginners and the more experienced, and classes are limited to a maximum of 12 people per class, which ensures participants receive personal instruction and gain in confidence and ability.
Ashtanga Yoga Full Primary Series with Ian Ashtanga Vinyasa consists of a fixed sequence of postures (asanas) linked together by the breath. Emphasis is on synchronizing the breath and movement in a continuous rhythmic flow of postures. An energizing practice, it is a complete fitness workout that can help you gain strength, flexibility, stamina and focus your mind.
Pilates Improvers (Level 2-3) with Clare Aimed at those with who have completed 6-10 beginners classes or have previous experience of the technique. Pilates is a whole method of movement which leaves you feeling taller &strong to the core. This class includes a rhythmic warm up with dynamic balance &stretch, followed by a Pilates matwork routine. Modifications are offered to accommodate varying ability so you choose level 1, 2 or 3 exercises. The session closes with soothing relaxation leaving you with a calm focused mind.
Beginners Pilates (Level 1-2) with Clare Participants learn the basics of Pilates and practise level 1-2 exercises with other beginners. Recommended for a healthy back &long lean muscle tone. The class format includes a warm up with simple Pilates exercises focusing on underlying principles &closing with gentle stretches &calming relaxation. 6-10 intro classes are recommended as a starting point before progressing to the next class at 6pm.
Ashtanga Yoga (Second Series) with Ian An introduction to second series for those that have been practising Ashtanga for a while. A chance to explore some wonderful backbends, deeper hip work and some interesting balances. We use plenty of modification to make this class accessible for anyone familiar with the ashtanga primary series.
Yin &Yang Yoga with Kathy An ideal balance to the stronger practices Yin &Yang Yoga bring together dynamic, muscular or ‘’Yang’’ forms of yoga with long-held relaxed floor postures to stretch and stimulate the deep connective ‘’Yin’’ tissues of the body.
